“...Women are fantastic leaders, and a lot of what we have been socialized to do: be collaborative and be empathetic, are absolutely leadership skills. And rather than focus on what we should get rid of, how about we expand the table? Because I want women to know that feeling of healthy self-doubt, that feeling of, ‘Could I really do well in this new project,’ or the stretch goal, or ‘Brené Brown’s going to be interviewing me and will I be okay’? That feeling of healthy self-doubt is normal, everyone has it across the gender spectrum. The issue is why are women’s careers being so, so, so demoted and stalled really because of this ‘syndrome’ that’s being placed on them.”

“Imposter syndrome,” or doubting your abilities and feeling like a fraud at work, is a diagnosis often given to women. But the fact that it’s considered a diagnosis at all is problematic.”

What is a podcast?

Podcasts are episodic spoken word audio files that can cover a variety of topics - from informational interviews, storytelling fiction, documentaries, or even simply authentic conversations. A podcast series usually features one or more recurring hosts engaged in a discussion about a particular topic or current event that typically aims to broaden some sort of knowledge and cultivate a community of like-minded viewers.

Podcast episodes typically range from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, can easily be played straight from a phone or laptop, and they’re free! The great thing about a podcast club is that listening to an audio podcast is easy to incorporate into a busy schedule, and you can still get a whole lot to discuss out of a single episode!

If you have any questions, please email connect-pwa@gmail.com

How does the Podcast club (PODCLUB) work?

It’s like a book club, but for podcasts! We will gather virtually about once a month to discuss 1-2 podcast episodes (typically about 1-2 hours of material). RSVP via Shoreline

We will announce the podcast 2-4 weeks in advance. Podcast topics will be crowdsourced from podclub attendees and will typically center around topics that promote connection, vulnerability and openness.

Topics of interest include expanding our understanding and knowledge of mental health, self care, shared experience, social justice, feminism, and more!

How to listen to podcasts for free!

  • You can listen from your phone, laptop, TV or tablet; either from designated applications, or just from the internet.

  • Most phones come with a pre-installed app for podcasts, or you can listen straight from your Spotify account.
